OK.. New thread

South Texas is having spring-almost-summer weather. High 80Fs and breezy. Showers in the afternoon.

I have some kind of vine growing on a wrought iron structure. It is doing fine, and is showing off its ONE flower again. Now, I appreciate ONE flower, but how come after 3 years it isnt covered with purple blooms?

Lucky--its been overcast seen Sunday; only nice out for about eight hours on Wednesday. Speaking of gardens; my friend and I just started a project for school where we are growing some snapdragons one is named after our teacher

sneaks back into room silently

Despite it being June, temperatures have yet to rise above 60° around here. Usual temps in the midwest tend to be about 70-75° F. Feels like fall all over again. Making me wonder if I'll ever be able to transplant my tomato and pepper plants into the garden. *sigh*

More of the same actually.
Although the snapdragons in the front yard are almost a-flower.
And we have young blackbirds eating our strawberries.
And the tadpoles are growing hindlegs.
And the hostas are getting close to flowering.
And...

Hmmm, sounds like quite a lot changed

(I don't think my snapdragons are doing too well; they seem sorta, um, wilted)

Well, I am having a hard time typing, because I appear to have rather fragile skin on me fingers; and now that I ride and handle tough leather and dirty horses, the skin is peely. Half of my fingers have been stripped of the top layer of skin, so i just bought some riding gloves . Oh yeah, the weather. It was overcast but still sunny today; I had a soccer game where there were loads of flys, a few raindrops, sun and clouds, and a slight breeze; which did not provide relief to being hot. I will stop complaining now, and listen to the nice weather you seem to be having

Well, it wasnt for me. I told yall all about it in the Tropical Storm Allison thread in the Senet House.

But good news. Only a regular shower or two forcast for next week.. and regular temperatures in the mid-90s.

Since we got 70% of our annual rainfall in one week, I suspect I could do with a dry spell

*grin* Gustavia. I hope that things do dry out for all of you in Texas.

Warm and sunny here in Ottawa. +27oC today, with highs of +30 to +32 oC for the rest of the week being forecast. That's just about as hot as I like it to get. Much over 30 and it is *way* too hot for me!

WoW! These are still going on...

Lets see, right now it's kind of, nasty looking. Like it might rain. It rained for about an hour yesterday. But it's still a warm Florida summer day.

The doves that nest outside my office window have already raised two pairs of young birds this year. After raising each pair, they take a break for a few days, and then start again. During the last break, squirrels got into the nest and tore it up. The doves are now building another nest in the same tree near the first location. (They used the first nest for four years in a row.)

I found the process of nest building very interesting. Dove A sits in the tree beside the nest while Dove B flies off to get a twig. When Dove B returns with the twig, it carefully works the twig into the nest, usually rearranging it several times until the twig is perfectly placed. Dove B then flies off to get another twig.

While Dove B is off retrieving the next twig, Dove A hops onto the nest and re-rearranges Dove Bs last addition. I wonder which Dove is the male, and which is the female. lol

obviously y'all don't have a sense of humor

or maybe I was out in the sun to long...108F here, sunny and hot, however, next week they are predicting the start of our summer rainy season. Quite a remarkable time of year, desert thunderstorms are an incredible site to witness and experience.

Good to hear your little feathered friends are still hanging out with you VAIA ..we have a squirrel family in the fir tree closest to the house...with the filbert orchard they are fat and sassy. I believe we have had several generations and there's a half dozen in our immediate vicinity.

We are partly cloudy..cooler in the AM, but warms to 70F's by mid-afternoon. Lawn mowing has become a routine already

You should name the doves, that would be SO cute!

Anyways, it was muggy today, and absolutely hazy and boiling on Friday. School was torture because I almost melted! I am so glad I didn't have gym that day

Didn't you have doves nestling last year as well, Vaia?

Weather is doing fine generally, if a bit unpredicatable. Have I bragged about my new garden wall yet? We decided it needed a touch of colour.

The Crepe Myrtle trees are starting to bloom, now. Still no hibiscus blooms, but my yard is a bit shady. I see them blooming around town.

Pink Impatients in full bloom, bouganvilla is trying to bloom in the shade. Liriope is blooming, soft lavender spikes of flowers.

I feel left out--since my parents have three kids and jobs the main thing growing in the front yard is grass. We have a handful of tulips, a pathetic looking rose bush, a fluffy soft plant, and some petunias in boxes under the windows. Huzzah .

ET, which lake are you taking about anyways? And since we will be in Quebec during my birthday this summer, my present will probably include several trail rides

Did you add any pictures of your garden recently? I'd like a peek

We have the hydrangeas budding. The spirea is putting forth it's red 'feathers'. Three of the clematis are in flower (deep blue, purple and a tiny yellow one). Honeysuckle is ready for flowering (and I'm ready for it's scent). Budleia has buds as well. Petunia/Surfina and my white roses are full abloom.

Looks lovely

It is absolutely beautiful out; a tad hot; but nice nonetheless. I was surprised to see the Tiger Lillies in the back of the house completely shrived when they were prefect yesterday.

Aside from the weather, good ol' Nova Scotia, Canada is having it's share of problems... there is a nurse's strike, and there was even a bill passed making it illegal for them to strike, but they are still picketing. Even worse, the nurses en masse filed a resignation... in two weeks, hundreds of nurses will quit. Hurray...

No new pics up, Jay

I have some film to be developed; it has been so long in the camera I might have several seasons of pics on it

Still thinking about getting a nice digital camera...
