..sorry Claudia I..didn't read enough to catch on ..hmm let's see. Your accentuated e is & (no space)#235 I believe..let's try it and the capitalized letter is & (no space) #203 or like this

Is this better ???

more?? just place &# in front of these numbers

a=237

i=239

o=246

u=252

I think some special keyboards allow you to assign these characters without having to encode them. UNIX should recognize the numeric code here...though each character has a Mnemonic description also.

Thanks for the fun

You can get a lot of that functionality in Windows usign a standard US keyboard, witha keyboard settign of US-International (like I'm using).

It sort of sets ', ", ^, ~, ` these keys to'dead-keys' and will combine them with another key into a composed character, like , , , , .

wow?? A Jay
Just rock solid true color for a Jayhawk definition ..no matter which way you slice it.

My keyboard is suppose to have more options than my family dental plan...and I can't make it do every one of the characters you just did A Jay...hmmm I must have Windows setting it on the retarded Western Alphabet/US only setting.

I guess so....It's in Control Panel - Keyboard.

You then can get most of the funny ones using CTRL+ALT, = CTR + ALT + C and = CTRL + ALT + R.

Here are the signs I have at home, on the french keyboard:
&"'(-_)=+~#%*$,;:!?./<>
And now a little more color test: My maiden name My bride name. Question: when a woman takes the name of her husband for everyday use, how is it called in english?

Claudia,

I guess you mean "married name"??

Anyway, when I use Windows or html, I always use the Windows codes (on a US keyboard) to make my French accents etc.:

ALT-0232
ALT-0233
ALT-0234
ALT-0235
ALT-0231
ALT-0224
ALT-0244
ALT-0226
ALT-0249
ALT-0251
ALT-0176

Oh, and let's try this:

Fortuna

he he... I kinda like it.

Hmmm,
if you want them for use inside HTML, there's the &emp you can use for these.
'&empgt' will get you '<'
'&empemp' will get you '&'

There's a whole list of them that are specific for accented characters. Now where did I put it...

Found it, the ISO8859-1

'&empAgrave' or '&emp#192' will get you ''
'&empCcedil' or '&emp#199' will get you ''
'&emposlash' or '&emp#248' will get you 'ø'

Great lessons A Jay ..thanks
