OK...

Have sent Merlin and Jayhawk off to speak with the Phoenix. Kyrin is caring for Arithmial who has developed 'a gift'.

Basically any physical touch between Arithmial and another person will cause Arithmial to have a vision of that person's death.

I have indicated that Kyrin will die at some point, however, I am assuming that the cauldron will be used to revive her.

Arithmial's vision quest is now over.

Quoted from Arithmial:
EDIT: Just re-read it again! I am WAY impressed now - you have retold the story from earlier perfectly

I had the original post next to me

Quoted from Zac:
Does anyone mind if I bring a new person into the story?

Only if you promise to feed him and take him out for a walk every now and then.

Quoted from Arithmial:
I have indicated that Kyrin will die at some point, however, I am assuming that the cauldron will be used to revive her.

Interesting, as Kyrin isn't quite what she seems either...

As for the gift, Arithmial's going to be seriously confused if he touches either Jayhawk or Phoenix. Jayhawk's eternal and Phoenix close to that.
Merlin will be confusing as he's got this habit of reincarnating with his memories intact.

Phoenix,
we have another interesting puzzle to figure out.
I'm assuming your time is linear, i.e. this happens before the Barbarossa chronicle. So your character doesn't know Jayhawk yet.
Jayhawk on the other hand can move in time. It's probably easiest to have this take place before the Barb's Tale from his point of view as well.
Of course it's possible that both have met before this event as well.

Alternatively you can say it's a different character and there's no connection to the other story (which will be confusing as I carry over my character between the various stories).

I'll leave you the next post.

Ah but Jayhawk... I think we will have to engineer it so that when Arithmial touches you he falls unconcious.... because his extra sense is overwhelmed... or something

Yes. I am now writing the 'discovery scene' in notepad, not word (because it seems that causes problems) - I think in a bit Arithmial will sneak out and Kyrin will follow him...

hehehe

One thing I have noticed is that none of us have written a real 'comedy' scene as per the original spec?
It's probably worth changing the spec

Well, we can always see if some light entertainments shows up. Incontinentia was great as such, to bad we lost her to Real Life™ and a crappy connection in Oz.

Phoenix provided us some light entertainment in another story, but I think he wants to be taken a little more serious in this one.

Let's leave it in and see where the story takes us?

ZigZac: I'm not sure where I'll fit in, so I just put my character into the story...I didn't know about the two-paragraph minimum, I'm sorry.

Yes.....I thought of this as well. I think this takes place before the Barbarossa Chronicles in Jayhawk's experience as well as time....and I don't really want to say it's another character......but I have a sort of contingency plan: My character is going around under the name 'Auriga' (as you'll notice in the Character thread). So when Jayhawk meets him in the Barbarossa Chronicles, he doesn't realize it's the same person, since he's met so many thousands of interesting people..... (Me? How could you not remember me? )......maybe I'll post a "Hey Jawyhawk, remember me?" conversation in the Barbarossa thread.

That sound ok?

Arthimial, am I the evil presence? Excellent.

Jawhawk, I don't mind doing some funny stuff (Just not as much as in the Barbarossa thread). The thing is, a lot of people don't find the Wodehouse/sarcasm type stuff I write funny.....(I mean that kind of humour, not my writings specifically).

Hello Phoenix: Don't worry about one post. Just go with the two paragraph minimum in your next post.

A suggestion: I think it would work best if your Auriga character treated Jayhawk's character independently of other stories. I don't know enough of the Barbarossa Chronicles (whatever they are) to make the connection anyway, especially if it is a future thing. I'm sure others are in the same situation (except maybe Jayhawk) as me.

So I think this should be your first meeting with Jayhawk. Do you agree?

Civis: Thanks.

Yeah, my idea was that this is my first meeting with Jayhawk, and then we'll figure out what to do in our other story thread (the Barbarossa Chronicles) separately. So for the purposes of this story, me and JHawk don't know each other.

Btw, just a reference for any posters: Arthimial felt an 'evil presence'...my character isn't evil as such, but borderline. Not like Ysbrand. Just wanted to clarify that.

Thanks,
The Phoenix

Ok, I am introducing my character now. I just have one question, how many paladins do we have guarding Glyden/Cawldrin? Maybe Jay can answer that for me since he's here right now.

Phoenix I didn't use the word evil on purpose, because I wasn't sure. Dangerous, in the sense that you wield power, yes, evil maybe, but not known yet?!
Merlin and Jayhawk realised this and decided that the best course of action would be to head your character off, to understand what this new force may be, and it's intent.

As for sarcasm, I love it. If it's anything like Paul Merton, I will enjoy it....

I know Lestra is my character, though I can't alter anything in the character thread as I didn't post the description. However, I have a vague memory that someone claimed Nyla .. was it Civis?

Civis,
I think we came to the same conclusion, i.e. that this will be the first meeting between Phoenix and Jayhawk. The Barbarossa Chronicle, BTW, is the story we're running on AoK:History.
It's...intriguing

Phoenix,
Let's make this the first. However, it's unlikely Jayhawk would actually forget a phoenix. We can keep the slight feeling of non-comfort that seems to exist between the two characters. There's no reason to explain why this is, just that somehow the two don't really match/mix well.
It could be based on the cynicism of the Phoenix clashing with the love for the world Jayhawk is exuding...anyways. Something like that.

Zac,
I think we counted half a dozen or so. Assume they were gathered by Merlin from a time in the future (up to high chivalry).
Sorry to hear about that post.

GillB - Civis took Nyla I am afraid. If you want to spice Lestra up a bit (I am presuming here) then why not make her have unknown and untapped powers, so that Nyla must teach her...?
Think: Princess Leia from Star Wars as the 'hidden' sister of Luke.

Jayhawk - I got confused by 'sketched a bow' ?

Phoenix and Jayhawk - Is the start of the confrontation, ok? I wasn't sure how to write from either side, so wrote from Talisien's as he would be an observer in this immortal meeting.

;-)

'sketched a bow' ~ made something that could be taken for a bow (as in a slight bend of the back/head, a wave of a hand).

I hope Phoenix will take the encounter to it's next step.

It's OK, Arithmial - I'm happy with Lestra as she is. That's not the problem. I actually try & avoid the magicky sort of bit of the story because I don't know enough about it. I just wondered, because I didn't want to do anything wildly out of character with Nyla if she was somebody's (if you see what I mean).

Um, Arthimial, why did you make us pick a fight? I tried to defuse the situation, now I'm passing the buck to JHawk....

Just a thought, but aren't there a lot of magically-inclined people for a historical? I don't think it would make sense to have any more.....

Note for JHawk: My character here is a little different from in Barbarossa.....more restrained, quieter, and he'll probably never use his magic *openly* (ie fireballs) in the whole story. Just letting you know.
