Hi,
I am currently replaying C4 on Windows 10 and have decided to make a user scenerio. However the editor crashes in about 5 seconds when trying to use it to edit the terrain.
.
My question is: Would it be more stable if I install it on Windows XP or another OS?

Not sure about this, the editor has always been a bit flakey with the terrain editing. I assume that you followed Pecunia's Guide?

It might depend also on where you installed the game. The default installation folders of older games don't work very well with latest Win versions. What version do you have? GOG? Steam? Original retail?

You could also try running the game in Windows XP (Service Pack 2) Compatibility Mode.

So yes, it probably works better on Win XP or 7, but it shouldn't be necessary I think.

I'm using the steam version and the game works fine. Only the Editor is highly unstable. :-(

OK, did you follow these steps from Pecunia's guide before changing the terrain?

Important: before continuing, save your scenario, exit the editor, then re-load your scenario in the editor using the "Edit scenario" button on the main menu. This will prevent any problems with creating the textures.

The terrain editor is flakey in Windows 7 too. I have had the same problem, but using Pecunia's suggestion I was able to make it work.

Otherwise, I have no idea. Sorry
