Hello

I'm reporting a file that has been corrupted and cannot be played. The file is: http://pharaoh.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=1251

I was thinking it may be a glitch with the file server, so I tried downloading one of my own maps, which extracted just fine. When trying to extract the file above though, I just keep getting errors like "Unspecified error", or in WinRAR's case: "Unknown method".

If the file is indeed corrupted, it needs to be removed and reuploaded, or the file simply needs to be updated with a new zip.

Thanks.

Hi Sajuuk

I've just downloaded "Citadel on Three Rivers" and extracted the zip file getting no errors, I use 7-zip. I'm also able to open the file in the game.

PCDania,

When I try to extract Citadel on Three Rivers.map from Citadel_Map_0001.zip using Windows Explorer on Windows 7 (as I've done with many other files), I get an "Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error".

The error Brugle pasted is the same one I got, following the exact same instructions and using Windows 7. @PCD: Is it possible you got a cached version of the file before it got corrupted?

I downloaded the file and checked it right before I posted about not getting an error. What happens if you use 7-zip? The program is freeware and spam free so there is no risk in trying.

Hi PCDania,

I was traveling yesterday so I couldn't respond until today.

I could extract Citadel on Three Rivers.map using 7-zip.

Using 7-zip, I examined a lot of .zip files (produced by different people) that I've accumulated. Most use the "Deflate" compression method or "Store" compression method. Only Citadel_Map_0001.zip uses the "BZip2" compression method, which is apparently not supported by some zip applications.

I'll try 7-Zip, but it seems the file was zipped in the wrong way. Can a moderator rezip that file so others can download it without needing 7-Zip to play it?

To update this thread, I installed 7-Zip and the file was successfully extracted.

I would like to recommend that a site moderator correct the current upload and fix the ZIP so that it uses a more universal method that doesn't require 7-Zip to be installed.
