Ok so the one thing that is annoying me with Custom Scenarios at the minute is the fact that I cannot have all farms/buildings etc... I really just want to make a huge sandbox city but im struggling to get anything more than just wheat/fruit/olive farms, I want the get Meat farms etc... aswell.

Anyone got any idea how to go about this?

Hi Darakuli, welcome to Caesar III Heaven.

Select one of the 40 empire states for your city. (Some cities have 2 possible empire states.) This will determine the non-manufactured goods that your city can produce (other than fishing) and the trade partners that are available.

If you want pig farms, choose an empire state that can produce meat (there are 9) and don't allow fishing. (If you allow fishing in an empire state that can produce meat, pig farms will produce fish.)

There aren't any empire states that can produce everything. There are 2 empire states--Valentia (7) and Tarraco (11) that can produce everything except for 1 food if you allow fishing.

Hi,

Some time ago I created an excel file that shows all items in each empire. I uploaded it here. Also I added a PDF version in case you don't have excel. The meaning of letters is: L: Local, I: Import, E: Export.

If you must have pig farms that will limit your options a lot. Out of 40 empires there are 9 that have pig farms. These are empire 4, 25, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40.

None of those have fish. Also none of them have clay, timber and olives locally at the same time. These are essential items if you want lots of large insulae or higher housing. You can find a list of required items at each housing level on this page.

The file shows the maximum housing level you can achieve in that empire. However, imports can support a limited number of houses.

In Caesar 3 goods consumption is 0.24 cartloads per year per house for each good (except small palace and higher which consume double the amount of wine). Let's say you can import 15 cartloads of olives and 25 cartloads of oil. That means 40 cartloads in total. This would be enough for 40/0.24= 166 houses.
