Having finally finished Kebet yesterday, I've started looking over the map for Itjtawy. There is a spot where I might want to put a bridge, but before I take a risk that might bite me later in the game, it occurred to me to wonder:
Does a bridge block trading ships? or will the ship pass through the bridge?
Do walkers treat bridges like roads? or do bridges block walkers?

1. No bridges don't block ships, provided the waterway was wide enough before the bridge was placed. 2. Bridge act as road so cross-country walkers will use them. If connected to a road network the bridge is treated as roadway for roadway restrict walkers, so use roadblocks if it isn't desired for random walkers but is desired for destination walkers(deliverymen...etc).
Ensure the pathing isn't blocked on either sides of the bridge, ie if you cant place a road network on both side then the bridge is useless.

Incorrect. C3 allowed you to build long bridges which didn't block ships. However all bridges in Pharaoh block ships.
Eagles may soar, but weasels do not get sucked into jet engines Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, Proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too

Thanks. I will plan either not to use the shoreline beyond the bridge, or use a ferry instead of a bridge.

Bridges do block ships, although I only tested with fishing boats.
On top right corner of Alexandria (Cleo) there is a small harbour where you can place several fishing wharfs. When I put a bridge to span across the harbour mouth, the fishing boats crash and sink on hitting the bridge and the fishing wharf then say they cannot find anywhere to make them a new boat.
Bridges act just as an ordinary road except you cannot put a roadblock on it.
And bridges also have a special function during wartime, that sometimes you can lure your enemy to the opposite shore and blow the bridge, so they would starve or bore to death there when you sit and build your town and watch them wandering around with your popcorn.
