Hey guys,
I am building a pyramid in North Dahsur and my storage yards don't seem to be working at all. If I command a yard to get maximum grain from the granary they do nothing.

I have stone that I quarry and it doesn't reach the yards near the pyramid even though the one near the quarry is full.

It doesn't appear that the granaries are doling out food either, or that the bizarre's are getting it. They are full all the time but I don't see farm workers going to them.

The pyramid does nothing with the stone though the work camps did send the men out to dig the foundations.

Anyone else had this problem?? How do I fix these problems.

Cheers guys and happy gaming.

Kim

I don't think I've ever seen a storage yard to gather food from a granary. My suggestion is to tell a granary to empty it's grain stock, while leaving the storage yard as "get max".

For the stones, I assume that it goes to the closest ones with space, on the same accept level. So I generally build multiple storage yards close to the quarries, and set them to only accept stone. I also find that it's better to 1) build my pyramids as close to the quarries as possible (same with City palaces if I can mine gold), 2) build storage yards for the pyramids close to the quarry not the pyramids, and 3) build the work camps there as well, as the workers disappear when they drop off the stone. This is to reduce the time/distance workers travel. And you need stone masons and carpentry camps (I forget what their buildings are called) for stones to be laid, right click on the pyramid to find out what's stopping it from being built.

For food production, Storage yards get filled first, then granaries. Bazaars collect the food from either, the granaries or storage yards don't deliver it to them. To find out what's wrong right click on the bazaars (it might be that the granaries are too far from the bazaars). And Bazaars only collect food from storage yards if the food is set to be imported.

There are several possible causes for your problems, and I'll give only the more likely (that I remember).
If I command a yard to get maximum grain from the granary they do nothing
Is there no connection between the yard and the granary? Is the granary set to get grain? Is grain stockpiled?
stone that I quarry and it doesn't reach the yards near the pyramid even though the one near the quarry is full
Is there no connection between the quarries and the yard near the pyramid? Does that storage yard near the pyramid not have its full staff?

By the way, sledge pullers are pretty good at hauling stone from storage yards to the pyramid, so you don't need to move it close to the pyramid.
It doesn't appear that the granaries are doling out food either, or that the bizarre's are getting it
Is the bazaar set to Don't Buy grain? Is the granary a long distance (more than 39 tiles as the crow flies) from the bazaar? Is grain stockpiled?
The pyramid does nothing with the stone though the work camps did send the men out to dig the foundations
Is the foundation not completed? Are stonemasons on the pyramid? Do you not have plain stone? Is limestone or plain stone stockpiled?

If these suggestions don't solve your problems, you can send a saved game to the address in my profile, mentioning Pharaoh in the email subject.

Oops, missed maydayp's reply.

Thanks for your thought guys.
You have given me some idea's to try for the pyramid at least.

Not sure how to fix the granaries and storage yards yet. The granaries are all full and the yard is set to accept grain but they still wont take it there. I will have a look if I have any employment problems as well.

Will let you know what I find.

Cheers guys

I'd suggest sending either Brugle or myself the save file and one of us should be able to figure it out (Brugle has more experience in trouble shooting things like this then I do).
Have you checked the distance issues, say by building a new granary near the houses, or a new storage yard closer to the farm area or existing granaries. And did you try telling one of your granaries to empty their supply of grain? Like I said, once a granary has it's food it doesn't take it elsewhere unless told to get rid of it.

You often need to get food in a SY from a granary to fulfil a food request that pops up after the flood.

Most things appear covered. What else I can add is:

-Try saving and restarting the game/your computer

-For the granary/SY issue, are there multiple, unconnected roads surrounding the SY? I don't remember the exact details but I recall there being something about getting to/from SYs when granaries are somehow involved that stops them going cross-country.

Eagles may soar, but weasels do not get sucked into jet engines
Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, Proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too
