Hello,
I would like to ask the old Pharaoh veterans here for help in finding unused or cut content (graphics, music, items, etc) from the game, so it can be added to TCRF. In fact, I have already started working on a page here and a talk page is here.

If anyone can point me in any such direction or provide clues, I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

Edit:

- I read a topic here where an oddity was pointed out: There is a 1x1 meadow grass tile in a map that's not supposed to have any meadow grass. I'm trying to find that topic again.. Nevermind, I found it in Men-nefer. Included in the page now.
- There are some curious file names in the game's files such as "AbuSimbelDummy.555". I'm wondering if they are of interest.

I dont know anything about back end game files but Unused12 is a well known good which has no purpose and can only be obtained from a storage yard trading bug. It seems to have been an early design for marble before marble was added into Cleo. Even with marble's introduction though, Unused12 still exists.

Some custom scenarios have also allowed gold to be bought and sold. Don't know if this is something you are looking for but in these scenarios gold can be traded and placed in storage yards like any other good. It shows the functionality of gold works like other goods but somewhere along the development line changed.

@evil_live_vile, thanks for your input.
It seems to have been an early design for marble before marble was added into Cleo.
What is it that makes you think so?
Is there any evidence and where?

Is it possible to edit savegames? I would be interested in editing memory to change the ID of the goods in a storage yard, for example. So I can see if there are more unused items. If it's not possible maybe I can use Cheat Engine (I never used it before though...)

Edit:

Editing savegames seems possible but I haven't gotten any useful results out of it. Maybe the savegames are not checksum protected, but they might be encrypted in some way.

I tried Cheat Engine with more promising results. I will post more when I'm done.

Edit:

Questions
1) Is Gold treated like a good in the non-Cleopatra version (in the custom missions)?
2) Does the game, either in Cleopatra or non-Cleopatra, give you the option to choose Mud or Brick versions of defensive structures, such as Mud Tower vs. Brick Tower, etc. ?
3) Does the game, either in Cleopatra or non-Cleopatra, have a building "Senet Master", where supposedly people are trained to play Senet?

I have edited the page, if you're curious: Link
Also, a goods list and buildings list: Link

Thanks!

I don't know evil_live_vile's reason, but it may be because it looks like marble.

There is Unused12 in 2 storage yards in my Buhen (which is not in the Downloads). Tryhard's Buhen (in the Downloads) has a saved game with Unused12 in a storage yard. I think there is Unused12 in some other saved games in the Downloads.

Saved games are not encrypted, but some parts of them are compressed.

I don't think so.

No.

No.

Yes no hard evidence, it's mainly the ascetic. Also marble was the only new stone added into the Cleo expansion. That could indicate they originally planned to include marble but left it out.

I've never seen it but then again only seen gold as a good in a couple custom maps in the downloads. It could be possible if you find out how they did it and try replicating it in a non-Cleo map.

Thanks for both your replies.

I was a bit confused, because Unused12 looked like limestone to me. I don't think Unused12 has any connection with Marble, because Unused12 occupies ID 27 (decimal) in all versions. Cleopatra added the goods Oil, Henna, Paint, Lamps, blocks of Marble between IDs 31 and 36 and then continues with the goods from the previous Pharaoh version. On the other hand, Unused12 comes directly after the other block goods.

I mean, it might have a connection, but there is just not good enough evidence. That wiki doesn't like speculations be added. :P

If I edit a good in a storage yard to be gold, it shows up as gold (after reloading the savegame).
Looks like it can behave like a good but is disabled in Pharaoh. (unless it isn't in some custom map. I have to investigate.)

So about buildings: Looks like the devs wanted to implement Mud and Brick versions of defensive structures, possibly with Brick versions costing bricks to build. But then they scrapped it. They also wanted to add a Senet Master building which spawns a walker (senet master) that goes to Senet Houses and runs them.

Thanks for your help, again

Edit:

How can I view .sg3 and .555 files?

Mugg91 - The Cutting Room Floor looks like a cool project, it reminds me of Unseen 64 and similar websites of beta and cancelled games but in this case it is content for already released games.

It's possible almost every game here on HG could be added to that site, I know AOE2 has this for example and most games contain at least a few items inside scenario editors that aren't in the official game campaign or play modes.
I see AOE1 is on TCRF.

Check out these links here, music info here and sg3, 555 etc files info is here and here and a reader program here.

You can email Keith Zizza here about any extra music, such as the Pharaoh "CD Only Bonus Tracks" Horus and Tuning Up which I haven't been able to find yet, see this.
The so-called "Lost Tracks" are played in the game menus so we need to find Tuning Up and Horus as they are currently missing on youtube or anywhere it seems.

Does anyone know if the old academy etc graphics can be used in the game for a new custom building?

Thanks kindly for your help. The sgreader you linked lets me finally view all the buildings! Much appreciated!

When I have any more questions, I'll post again here.

And if anyone has anything related to beta/unused content, please post about it here.

I read your page on Pharaoh--lovely work.

I did find one error, however. At ID 59, you (or other staff working on the page) stated that a building was a Meager Shanty. It is not a Meager Shanty but in fact a Common Shanty.

Belated thanks brainwasher5, I fixed it.

Nothing much has happened in the meantime. At some point, I made an article on the Demo version but that's it.

The alpha/prealpha content looks interesting and we might use it to make another article. Would be even better if this version existed anywhere, but I guess it was never leaked.
