Hi ahobbit,
did you patch your game?
However, I recall you that but it has nothing to do with yourproblem, I think.
Definitely, some games can be stuck and the reason is often hard to guess. Loading a previous game is the best solution, but sometimes you have to look for an old game as the cause of the incident to happen in June may date back from January and an excess of immigration, for example.
Quite often, the cause is excess of movement on the map or soldiers/enemies moving into impossible paths. If I remember well Thinis, it is not such a busy map except if you have people on the floodplain (no birds or other game for example). Without Civilis' software to help you to detect if an event (invasion) brings the problem, you can go to the Download section and get Nero's spoilers and the list of events.
But I would suggest the following:
- if you are abnormally happy with your game, read the following. Otherwise replay it, it is very unlikely that you will do worse, and you will do it much faster.
- Assuming that you have a save which is some months older, load it, destroy as much as you can then run it at 100% speed to see if the game still freezes. Should take you some minutes only. You can reload this save, wait for one month before the event, save and erase some parts only to help you to detect more precisely the anomaly.
I do not recommend trying to use a file where the supposedely known problem is corrected just before it happens. Some buggish things may remain and corrupt the game definitely further after.
Use the following save methodology:
- use rotative saves called 00 to 09 to be on top of the list and, on top of that, every December, save every year under Year01, Year02, etc.
Thinis is intense but short lived. This would be another story in Hetep if your game freezes on Year 45.
