These Excel maps are truly wonderful!! Impressions should include files like this in the box for all their City Builder games!
I love this game, especially the strategy part. I find the planning to be simultaneously the most interesting & enjoyable as well as the most frustrating aspect of the game. Basically I would like to have decent intelligence about a given mission in computer file that I can use to prototype my city. Your maps completely remove the hassle of trying to copy all the map information onto a piece of graph paper. By including the terrain, they make it possible to use tools like Djed djedi’s Excel workbook to efficiently plan the entire city, rather than isolated housing blocks. Now, I can spend more quality time tinkering with the fun part of the game, rather than just counting tiles. Who knows, I might be able to make a decent city in South Dashur now…
Thank You Again for posting these maps
I don’t get time to play Pharaoh nearly as much as I would like and I’ve been learning about the game for several months from this forum. The folks here have truly created an Oasis in the desert. This is my first post, and I can't think of a better way to start than by dedicating it to your "eternal memory".
PS: Please consider two requests
1. Posting an exe file that can read a *.map file and dump the non-spoiler version of the map into a text or excel file. We could then use this to create Excel maps for all those wonderful maps out there that folks have made with the map-editor. It doesn't need to be fancy, just functional.
2. Making a set of Excel maps for the Caesar III missions too. I have the Great Empires collection and can't wait to get to Rome (in a million years or so at my current rate)
