Hi complaint_king,
If you want quick answers to your questions, you can Search (look at the bottom of the Game Help forum page) thread titles for key words. For this subject, you might try "pyramid" or "speed" or something like that. Of course, if you don't mind waiting a while for answers, someone is always happy to respond.
If you're in Meidum, you've seen mine and may recall that the pyramids there were completed in 187 months. (I'm pretty sure that someone else, Max perhaps, has completed Meidum faster.) If you're in another city, it might be good to search for threads on that city.
A pyamid needs material(s) such as stone, masons, laborers, and carpenters (with a wood supply). For maximum efficiency, the masons, carpenters, and material storage yards should be near the pyramid, and the work camps (that generate laborers) should be near the material storage yards. Sometimes this is difficult to achieve, when there are multiple materials (quarries and the dock on opposite sides of the map) or conflicting demands on laborers (the pyramid and floodplain farms on opposite sides of the map). Speedy monument construction requires careful design.
Assuming that you'll stay with your existing design, if you figure out what is slowest step then you may be able to speed it up. If material storage yards are close to empty, then get more material, perhaps by building more quarries. If plenty of masons are standing around on the pyramid without any laborers either hauling material or heading for material storage yards, then more work camps may help. Otherwise, you might try building more mason guilds.
With Cleopatra installed, a blessing from a god may speed up monument construction (if you enable that option). But beware, installing Cleopatra makes some changes to the game, including introducing at least one serious bug. (I haven't installed Cleopatra and don't intend to until either I finish the Pharaoh family history or a patch fixes the worst bugs.)
