I make a custom campaign using emperor campaign editor. my home city uses city map that contains great wall section ruin, which will be rebuilt at the fourth mission of my campaign. but when i start to play the first mission of the campaign, there is a message reporting that the great wall has been completed followed by great wall completeness report on the monument ministry window while i've done nothing at all for the wall. is there any solution for this?

Nothing that you can do, because the game engine expects you to build it in the first mission you play on that map. You cannot delay its construction until later, and you cannot 'rebuild' it later in a continuation mission on that map. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. I've moved the great wall goal to the first mission and accomplish it. but when I proceed to the subsequent missions, sometimes the wall returns into ruin as if it hasn't ever been built before. however, i still think that the wall disappearance is a kind of graphical error because the monument ministry still tells that the wall has been built.

You have to be very, very careful if you make your own custom map and place the great wall footprint on it. There is a bug in the map editor that will cause graphical errors during gameplay, if you have moved or change the footprint once you placed it the first time in the map editor. This bug might be What you are seeing in your gameplay.

thanks again for the reply. i just check this thread after quite a while. i finally decide to replace the wall with the canal because there is no defensive benefit that can be gained from the wall. However, since the canal is situated in the very center of the map, and thence in the most essential part of my city's transportation network, is there any way to plan the placement of the canal's bridges?

No, based on what I've seen, the bridges over the canal are preset at intervals along the footprint. No way to set them yourself.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I recently discovered what robithnurielhaq was talking about.

The problem of the great wall 'disappearing' after it has already been built does occur. It will occur if you build it in one mission and then proceed to the next mission which is a continuation of the first, using the same map. In the second mission, the great wall appears fine until you save and reload that mission. Upon reloading that mission, the great wall will disappear, leaving only its original footprint.

I did discover a workaround to fix this problem. To fix it, the same great wall monument must be set as a mission goal in each subsequent mission that will be a continuation using the same map. I found that by doing this, the great wall will always appear during gameplay, regardless of how many times the map is saved and reloaded.
