There is currently a problem with the Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom program after the v. 1.0.1.0 update has been installed:
After the user inserts their username and password and clicks on "Login" on the Multiplayer menu, a message will appear stating that the program needs to be updated, even though the v. 1.0.1.0 has lalready been installed. If you click "Yes", the program closes to the desktop and activates the auto-updater and attempts to once again install the update.
Here is how to resolve this error:
1. Open up the WONLobby.cfg file with Windows Notepad in the Sierra\EmperorRotMK directory.
2. Change the bottom line in the file from:
Version: 1.0.0.0
to
//Version: 1.0.0.0
Then go to FILE --> SAVE --> EXIT.
Note: This error is most likely occurring with all language versions of the v. 1.0.1.0 update.
I haven't seen this error reported before. Make sure you use a program like Windows NOTEPAD. Use it to edit the file by addin the "//" (sans quotes) at the head of the line in question then FILE/SAVE the file keeping it's original name.
(Special thanks to Keith Heitmann for this solution)
