Hi All,
I am coming back to this wonderful game after not playing for a few years and I have forgotten quite a few things. (Firstly, I am playing it using Juliushttps://github.com/bvschaik/julius, in case that makes a difference - makes life easier on Linux)
I was playing Capula, doing much better than previously - but I ran into a few problems. I opened a trade route with Syracuse and built some industry on the far east side of the map right next to the river. I have 1 straight road going down from a dock at the river that has 4 warehouses (each set to accept only one of Olives, Oil, Timber, Furniture). Then some housing, then 5 Olive Farms, 6 Oil Workshops, 3 Timber Yards, 6 Furniture Workshops (Assuming raw production of 9.6, and workshop at 4.8) these should provide ~ 25 furniture, 25 Oil and 25 Olives per year. But my exports to Syracuse is half this. Do I need more docks? (I would need to redesign the industry area for this) If so what is the data on docks?
Also, I am sure I remember seeing data on how many units of material each type of house/person needed per year, but I cannot see that. As I write this I realise that 9.6 and 4.8 are carts per year, which is not the same as units. Is trade carts or units? Do you know if there is a post with this data in?
EDIT:
I noticed this thread:http://caesar3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=2,7508,,20
So does this mean food is calculated per person and goods are calculated per house? How is a second food source then treated, as a food or a good?
If so, does that mean 4 1x1 houses need more pottery per year than a single 2x2?
Running calculations, 1 clay pit produces 9.6 carts a year, which needs 2 workshops which produce 2x4.8 carts (for 9.6) per year resulting in 9.6 carts so 960 units per year. Which would be able to serve (960/24) 40 houses?
EDIT2:
I remembered the word "consume" and "consumption" this resulted in much better forum searches and the following:
Brugle: "Eraserhead is right. With the possible exception of "two types of wine", all houses consume 2 units of each good (that they consume) each month. I've read that palaces consume 4 units of wine per month, but I've never checked it out (since a few palaces don't consume very much of anything except food).
Each person consumes 1/2 unit of food per month. If two or three foods are eaten, the same total food is eaten, split among the foods. I think that the numbers are rounded down, so (for example) a 2x2 small insulae (with 76 people) would consume 38 units of food and 2 units of pottery per month, but four 1x1 small insulaes (with 19 people each) would consume a total of 36 units of food and 8 units of pottery per month. "
