Hello. I am a masochist and I am looking for interesting Caesar 3 challenges. I have 5 campaign challenges that proved interesting:
The 1 granary challenge
The 1 reservoir challenge (I hope the plebs don't mind shacks)
The no starting funds challenge (includes rescue loan)
The no exports challenge
The no military challenge

I was wondering if anybody else has any difficult challenges.

I have also one idea for (I hope) interesting challenge.

Lugdunum - 6 large villas in the small valley near entry point. Cliff-dwellers not allowed. Hard-core player can try it also in "no-trade version".

There could be some interesting issues. Difficult water distribution. Long food distribution and 2-foods issues. The market buyers choose granaries and warehouses "as the crows flies" - it could be interesting to avoid their trips to farming hill and to valley where native village is.

Without trade, the best houses in Lugdunum are small insulae.

Why require 6 villas?

OK, it should be "without export trade" to be accurate.

There is only small area in the valley near entry point. So I hoped 6 large villas would be difficult enough for challenge. You can make 12 large villas there if you are able to do.

I like short games. For player like you this type of challenge could be completed in two evenings, I guess.

Brugle, I liked your one Granary Tarsus and Damascus challenge.

I was thinking about "3 granaries huge city challenge". Every food type separated in different granary.

The houses in finished city should be only Luxury palaces and Grand Insulaes. The finished city should stand test of time 200 years without intervention of player. It should be some of higher level career maps and city of around 10000 inhabitants. At least 90% of high value exports should be filled each year during the test of time.
100% taxation coverage, culture, prosperity.
There should be at least two fully manned towers per every 1000 inhabitants during whole existence of city.

Would you consider such "challenge" easy in your level of abilities?

Which carreer cities would you consider most interesting for this type of challenge?

Since a "career" map would lose at least 1 Favor every year, that would mean automatically fighting off Caesar's Army repeatedly. That's a big deal--it doesn't seem to go well with the rest of your conditions.

Using a map based on one of the City Construction Kit maps supplied with the game (instead of a "career" map) would avoid that problem (since Favor is frequently set to 50). Some of your conditions are similar to what I've proposed for my rebuild of Timeless Tarraco (in reply #64). Someday I may get around to finishing the design and building it, but other things interest me more now.

OK, the gifts to Caesar should be allowed on career maps to avoid invasions.

In your Tarraco your intention was to reach also nice comments from walkers. I guess it would be impossible with 3 granaries rule in 10000 city.

I was thinking about Carthage design, all three granaries in the middle part of map. One near western farmland, second near eastern farmland and one near coast. But then I realized only the local fruit can be farmed and the third food (wheat) has to be imported. Valencia might be more elegant with the 3 granaries rule.
