Hi Everyone, i have been playing the game for almost 15 years now and has lurked here for almost 10 years but today I have finally gathered the courage to ask 2 questions:

1. How do I place multiple crops in 1 farm house. I always build individual farms for every crop, say 1 for millet, 1 for rice and 1 for wheat.

The game however says i should do multiple crops per farm. I can not understand how to do that? I do not think changing farm by deleting an replacing every time a crop season changes is a good idea (too much micromanagement). Is it possible to build one farm over another? or do you people do half and half?

2. Everywhere i see housing in this forum, people are using loops. my approach is to build straight rows with 12 houses per side. This makes 24 houses per support building. Can someone tell me why looping is better, and if someone can show some example calculations of higher number of house supported in a loop formation all the better.

Hi mohitkumaar, welcome to Emperor Heaven as a poster.

I haven't played Emperor yet (although I do have the game) so I can't answer your farming question or give examples or calculations. However, I can tell why players often build housing blocks around a loop road.

"Random" walkers (those who do not have a destination) appear to roam around for a while and eventually return to their building. If they are on a loop road and the shortest return to their building is to continue around the loop, they will do so. This allows them to go past more houses on their walk than if they went out a road and then returned to their building the same way.

Someone (perhaps Gweilo) should answer your other questions.

Hello mohitkumaar! It's never too late to ask a question.

Brugle's answer about why most of us build looping housing blocks is correct, but to put it another way is this: using a 'loop' or 'block' design provides the most stability to your housing, since the random walkers are channeled in a way that they always walk within the loop.

As for your other question about using multiple crops on a farm, just stop placing one type of crop and switch to another. For example, in this screenshot the bottom farm grows both rice and soybeans.

The farm will grow both types of crops just fine, but you will notice they grow according to each crop's growing season.

Also please bear in mind that the underlying terrain on the map surrounding your farm also plays a part in determining the types of crops that may be planted there. This most commonly happens with rice, which requires a rich water footprint to be placed. This is why you may notice that some places on your map will allow you to place a tile of rice, but others will not.

OK I got the loop part and will certainly try to experiment and adapt it.

In the farm image, i see that half the farm is rice and other half is soyabean. my concern is does this not halve the farm output as well since only half as many tiles are in use for each crop?

The best answer I can give you is these forum posts that discuss farm output yields.
