Hello! I'm playing the Qin Dynasty campaign, and I'm on the second scenario, "The First Emperor's City." One of the conditions for winning is having 200+ people in Impressive Compounds. In order to do this, I need to buy lacquer from Shu so I can make lacquerware. There's no other source for it. However, Shu's been rebelling against me for most of the scenario, and I can't get them to stop. I've sent them well over 15k in cash, multiple large gifts of ceramics, and even some animals, and they're still rebelling. I've tried quelling them twice, and they've crushed me both times. Is my game glitched? Should I just keep throwing things at them and hope something eventually works? Help!

I played this at hard level a few months ago and had no problems. From my saved game I see:-
Game started in 221 - as you say, Shu rebelled almost at once.
I purchased jade from my ally Wu and in 218 sent Shu a single extravagant gift of carved jade {much easier than lots of ceramics). In May 217 the rebellion was over.
I did not trade with the Nomad Camps and I do not understand Sajuuk's advice.
Plenty of iron (24 per year) is available for import so it is simple to build a large army. If you wish to invade, I suggest you first weaken the enemy with a spy and include a catapult regiment in your invasion force (you probably know this already).
While I am fully aware that the Feng Shui rating affects city sentiment and ancestral homage I am very surprised to read for the first time the claim that it also affects relationships with other cities. It does not affect me personally as I have always regarded perfect harmony as an essential but it is never pleasing to see what appears to be erroneous information in a forum like this so some justification would be appreciated.

Hello!
I'm playing at Normal difficulty; I feel a bit silly for having trouble with it. I threw ceramics at Shu almost every month until they came around, which they did in fairly short order. Whew!
My Feng Shui is at least average, I think; I don't remember at the moment. I've got my maximum allotment of troops. Hopefully they won't give me any more trouble.
Thank you so much for all your help!
