I was playing this mission where Niya ( ally ) asked for my help. I have a bunch of troops so I sent a big army. I then get a message that Niya has been destroyed by my city? What made matters worse was that my army remained marching back to my city for the rest of the mission. Only good thing was that no more miltary problem arose.
Anyone else have this happed to them?

I believe you have to respond to the request, rather than dispatching troops.
Possible Spoiler . . . . . . IIRC, Niya can't be safed, no matter how much troops you send, but I might be wrong, eeh I mean, I'm possibly wrong.

MarvL,
You get asked for support with a pop-up menu that says dispatch, postpone, or refuse. I selected to dispatch. You then get the military screen that allows you to choose your armies.
I think it is either a bug or a little trick to take away one of your better trading partners.
Losing the city wasn't the big problem, it was the lack of my armies returning so I could attack other cities.
