I was just curious if anyone playing Athens Through the Ages decides to summon Theseus in episode 4 (after returning from the 1st colony) instead of in episode 2, since the Minotaur won't target anything outside his range. I played this adventure on Olympian difficulty, and found that summoning him in episode 4 instead of in episode 2 is much easier for several reasons:
1. You can buy grapes in episode 4 (from Delos briefly & then Eretria once Delos is conquered) to make your own wine instead of only being able to buy/request wine from Marathon, which is much cheaper.
2. Odessos is now a vassal & you can just stockpile their tribute of 8 marble (both from episode 2 & episode 4)to meet the marble requirement.
3. Finally, I found using Theseus for conquering missions much more useful in episode 4 then in episode 2 since you cannot evolve your elite housing past Mansions (unless playing on Beginner level) because Delos & Sardis are much harder to conquer when you do so in episode 4 then Knossos is to conquer when you do so in epiosde 2.

Let me know what everyone's thoughts are, because as far as I am aware, I have not seen that strategy mentioned on any forums or walkthroughs.

Long time ago, I probably played it both ways for the minotaur. First trying to get rid of it, then realizing it isn't a goal and did no harm, so left it alone.

The rest is too detailed to remember for a entire campaign, but generally I may first play for the goals then replayed campaign for fun doing extra stuff using pre-knowledge. A long time ago, I loved learning how to raid to get things I WANTED.

After playing it the way I described, waiting to summon Theseus is definitely easier & more convenient. As for raiding, I think I only committed raids in 3 adventures, which includes raiding Mt. Pelion for armor & bronze when playing episode 4 in Athens. I did commit a ton of raids during the Orchomenos colony in Open Play Military, because Hephaestus issues a quest (which is not a goal in that colony) that you can complete by summoning Achilles, meaning you have to have 3 hoplite companies, wine, armor, & a sanctuary to Hephaestus, as well as no unrest (the only easy goal). The only resources at Orchomenos were fish, boar, sheep, & wood, with 2 land routes that you could buy/request olives, olive oil, & armor, and could sell fleece & wood. That colony also had water trade routes, but no water entry points (one of the few errors in the game I found), so you didn't have access to get goods from any water trade routes. I ended up raiding constantly to get marble for the temple, wine for my elites & Achilles, & bronze for both as well. I would highly recommend trying to summon Achilles in that colony if you really want to commit lots of raids against rivals.
