Is it possible that Sierra or Impressions Games (former employees or those who now have the rights for the product) to release their framework or game engine to the public?
I mean tons of city building "flavors" can be made with those engine instead of just modding the original works (Cx, P/C, Z/P, ERotMK). Maybe now we can do the Aztec or Mayan civs that was part of the choices.
And no offense to the 3d city-building games nowadays but they are way too complicated and graphically unaesthetic compared to the isometric 2d CBGs that Impressions did.
I understand that games have a particular life span and after which they are public property. Do they apply to the engines as well?
If this idea isnt possible, can anyone tell me what programming tool (Visual Basic, C, C++, etc .. ) did those cool Impressions Games people use to build the engine? (maybe we can build a similar engine ourselves?)
Good day every one.
