Hmmm... Did you find that at Netscape's HTML documentary site? It's really very helpful for anyone who wants to learn HTML or JavaScript. I mean, it taught me HTML, and I knew nothing about programming, but I guess HTML isn't really programming, it's more of a script language.

A Jay...why do most editors when validating script..always points out that you should use the HEX triplet instead of the colour "name"???
Most current browsers recognize the valid names without problems.

I am not sure of the correct answer, but try entering in crazy color names. If you enter "marcus lindicus" as a color it will still crank out a color. This may have something to do with it. If not I would love to know why this happens. Below is a short test to show you what I mean, look in the edit screen to see what color I selected.

Hi Marcus L. ..yes I have been using the names instead of the hex value..I wondered if it is alright to ignore your validation editor..that says..."on line 155..the color "pond yuk" should be listed in an acceptable HEX value.
SEE pond yuk heehee looks just like it
I would love to NOT alway have to remember numbers..like military "dog tags"

Well, one reason could be that hex will give you 256*256*256 =16,777,216 colours. Another would be that all browsers can convert hex and not all (Opera, Lynx?) might know these named colours.

Hi A. Jay
Thanks..and I realize that in PSP6..that it is recommended too..16mil colors does keep a good quality and acts sort of as a standard...for good viewing for evereyone.
The reason I brought it up..is I can remember a special name...whereas a number becomes meaningless ...well at my age..from one cup of coffee to the next. I'm just trying to find ways to "speed" up my work..with less frustration.

I think the named ones tell you the 216 browser friendly/safe colours. So there's nothing wrong in using them

RSC and alway this one RSC heehee RSC in in them all.

I found these when we were developing a children tutorial for Amazing Writing program..the color would describe what they wrote..it is really simple when you think about it.

I wonder what the algorithm for that is...could it be they use ASCII codes and added them up to RGB or Hex values?
