Year 5-6
These were not good years for my city. The worker shortage caused by the new construction went unnoticed until a plague hit my first worker block. My city population was at 2500 until this plague hit, but dropped to 1500 after the plague. I am ashamed to mention that this is the first plague in the history of my family, and it was caused by no health care workers in the block. Needless to say, this loss of population caused an even greater worker shortage in my city. My Overseer of Workers moved all available workers to healthcare to prevent another plague. Four months later we had another serious problem. A fire broke near my pyramid. It involved a large number of storage yards and spread to some other buildings. It was at this point that I relieved my Overseer of Workers and took over myself. For the next 4 years, I micromanaged the workers. I would move workers around monthly, letting one service be covered, and then move workers so another service would be covered. The main areas that I had to watch were fire coverage, health coverage, and farm employment.
Years 7-8
This years went by slowly. Work continued on my pyramid. My city was slowing increasing in population and I avoided any major catastrophes with careful worker management. The only major problem occur when one of the rabble asked me one day “Why isn’t the pyramid construction increasing?” I investigated with the Monument overseer and it seems that the Carpenter’s guild was one of the building that had been destroyed in the fire and had never been rebuilt. After transferring the Monument overseer to one of the limestone mines, construction continued at a rapid pace. There were also a couple of minor assaults from the Beduins and the Libyians, but my archers took care of them.
Years 9-10
Early into year 9, our population reached 3500 and the worker shortage ended. I promoted a new Overseer of Workers who assured me this would never happen again. Currently, the city is making a nice yearly profit, new housing has been built in the for north near the kingdom road and on the island. Beer is being exported, and a new trade route to Selima Oasis was opened, which proved very profitable.
Years 11-15
These years passed by quickly. Construction on the pyramid continues, and the city is making a profit. All of Pharaoh’s requests have been met and a couple more assaults have been beaten off.
