Looks like few takers, Fox. Not Norwegian myself. Question, tho': Did you ever read the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" books? There is a character in there, Slartibartfast, who was in charge of carving the fjords. It's an amusing story.

I've never seen Norway, but some of my ancestors lived there, about 1000 years ago.

Norway must be fantastic if it is true that Slartibartfast had designed the fjords !

bllah, that was actually a precautionary move to prevent you from driving on your tires. Ford had more tires recalled today. Your's may be next! So, see, your car was really just protecting you.

BTW , Slartibartfast won a prize for designing the fjords . Could any Norwegian please tell me where it can be seen ? i have a serious debate with my wife , she always wants to go to Scandinavia , and the fjords and such importent monuments like this prize must be seen then .

I have one of those Fjords, too! And lucky for me clear title! Of course, what bank in its right mind would want title to a mini-van with a crummy paint job?

Someone once told me that Iceland had fjords too. Were they just pulling my leg?

Iceland is wonderful , and has everything /with the exception of sunshine/, just saw pictures from friends taken there , but especially expensive , so i can dream about visiting only the "standard" Scandinavian states .

Do not Canada and Alaska have fjords too?

Ok, who wants to give us a definitive definition of a “fjord” and their geographical locations on this little planet? Webster simply defines fjord as “a narrow inlet of the sea between cliffs or steep slopes”. I find that definition somewhat lacking since I’ve always associated fjords with Scandinavia. I would do it, but I’m not a fjord expert, and I’m supposed to be working right now. (The Fox, you started this. Or was it Nutmegger? How about you Moquel, you seem to be knowledgeable on the subject?) I would seriously like to know.

Just to add to what Fox, said, a fjord is formed when glaciers dirfts down into a valley from a cliff, most commonly from two cliffs on the opposite sides of it, and then slowly progresses down towards the sea, making them quite spectacular
