This story is a murder mystery set in Rome in the Second Century AD.

The writing team for this story is limited at this time due to the type of story being written. Members are free to participate in other stories currently underway or to launch stories of their own. Your understanding will be appreciated.

Have you already thought of the details, Civis. Who are you writing this story with?

Let's see... How to say this without upsetting anyone.

Micah Aragorn and I have teamed up to write this story based upon Micah's story idea. We noted the wide participation in THE MIST OF TIME. We felt that as long as I continued to participate in and administer the THE MIST OF TIME (Micah wasn't interested in this particular story) then it should be okay if we teamed up to write "A DISTURBING PEACE" on the side.

Yes, we have already worked out the key characters and events of the plot, but we have not worked out all of the details. These we will work out as we go along.

I hope no one will feel slighted since we did not open this story up to all members at this time. There are some issues of "continuity" which apply that will become evident when the story posts begin.

I do want my associates at C3H to know that if there is a particular interest in story writing under the framework of the membership guidelines for C3H, then I will be the first to assist and support you under those guidelines. In this particular instance, Micah and I wanted to try out this story idea on our own.

Please indulge us for the moment as we put together a story we hope you'll enjoy.

Looks very promising, this aftermath of The Silk Road. Can't wait to read more

Of course we won't feel 'slighted'.

I saw your story in the Story Archives. The one you wrote on your own, Civis. (forgot the name) Nobody would have felt slighted then.

I thought I would give this thread a *bump* just to make sure those of you following the story knew this commentary thread was here. Feel free to comment on A DISTURBING PEACE using this thread.

Welcome MikivusPerivus! It's always nice to see new members who are interested in participating in the story threads posted. But alas this particular story thread is being written by only two authors because of certain characters and developments. Your comments on how the story is progressing are always wanted and welcomed in this discussion thread. Your participation in future story threads is eagerly awaited and appreciated.

LOL You came here a bit too late, MP. Why not participate in the other story thread - THE MIST OF TIME? You don't really have to read every post. All you need is to know the main points.

Anyway, I haven't started reading A Disturbing Peace yet. yet. I will.

Those of you who are following this mystery are free to guess at who the killer and the blackmailer might be and the motive(s) driving them. Use this thread for your speculations and discuss it among yourselves if you'd like. Then, when the story ends, see which one of you is right or the closest to being right about any of the characters and their roles in the mystery.

Neither Micah nor I will reveal answers until the time is right in the story. We will not respond to your guesses when posted in this thread with either "warm vs. cold" hints or anything in the way of denial or confirmation. You're strictly on your own.

Have fun!

Are there any members willing to give a thought on any of the characters or a chance on who or why events are happening in the Romanus household?

Wicked. Like the story so far.
Reason for Events...errrr...to bring down Caesar by forcing him to support Romanus, then look bad when Romanus is Framed. Umm stop the Silk route agreement. ummmm thats al i can think of.

Depends, WeaveCaesar, but it's fair to say it will be far fewer posts than made to date. Micah and I finished the plot development part of the story and are beginning the discovery/action phase leading into the final revelation and conclusion. Hang onto your chariots, 'cause the ride will get fast and furious.

Thanks for staying with us thus far.

I want to take this opportunity to thank my partner, Micah Aragorn, for agreeing to take on this project with me. You should know that the idea for this story's mystery was not mine, but his. Additionally, many of the plot twists and other events within the story were ideas that came from Micah, although they may have been presented in text that I posted. So to Micah, a very grateful thank you.

And to the readers of this post and of the story itself, another thank you for sharing your time with us as we haltingly and sometimes maybe a little inexpertly told our little yarn. We hope you enjoyed what might be, to the best of my knowledge, the first serious murder mystery story ever written in any of the HeavenGames Sites. That will be for the Angels to confirm or deny.

Lastly, with the story now being concluded, we would like to hear from you. Feel free to tell us in this thread what you liked or didn't like about the story. I assure you we will be pleased with complements and not in the least offended by constructive criticism.

Have at it! And once again, thanks!

Excellent job. My thanks to both of you for an enjoyable little mystery. I commend your skill and hope that perhaps some day you may be able to take this past being a 'serious hobby' as I believe CR expressed elsewhere.
Since you had staged it right after the end of the Silk Road, I had wondered if Crassus might be involved but didn't remember that he died in Silk Road; guess I was close though.
I had hoped that more of the Silk Road characters might make a cameo appearance (I was rather fond of Dania and had hoped to see him and his new Parthian wife again).

Nice ending actionwise!! Didnt really get the relevance of the C ingraving, just seemed circumstancial really. Probably because I didnt read Silk Road. Anyway I agree with Falco, a veritable masterpiece!

*Arrives in thread slightly out of breath with bits of food, oil, and wine staining his clothes.*

I have just finished reading "A Disturbing Peace" and wanted to say to the authors "Excellent and Well Done!" It has been some time since a story has last put me at the edge of my seat. My hat is off to both of you noble sirs Civis Romanus and Micah Aragorn! I look forward to your next story!

*Realizes that the hat is missing and goes to look for it.*

Thank you most kindly, Treborius. Sorry I missed you yesterday. By the way, your exciting leap into the thread was conveyed very well in your prose. It caught my attention immediately and literally demanded I imagine all of the physical movements you described. Nicely done!

We tried very hard to keep our readership guessing, even confused, as to who the culprit was and (especially) why poor Civis was targeted for mayhem. That you were "kept on the edge of your seat" is especially gratifying to hear, because Micah and I wanted the story to have a "cliffhanger" feeling as well. Looks like we may have succeeded in this regard afterall.

Actually, Micah and I discussed extensively when to reveal the identity of the murderor and the motive. We finally decided that the story would break on its spindle if we didn't reveal the identity of the killer; but that the motive could wait until the very last minute. That's why clues began to drop like a rain shower about who the killer of Tiberius might be, but only once in awhile did a clue drop as to motive. Those who read THE SILK ROAD had a clear advantage in guessing motive once the all important connection was made.

It's good to know there was as much fun to be had reading the story as Micah and I had writing the story.

Thanks again!
