Hi all, nice cool night here tonight 'cos it rained earlier in the day

I hate essay exams My fingers hurt so much when I finish them, as though they have always been in that pen-holding postition And I take History and Literature, so that makes a total of about 9 essays everytime there is an exam

Banner problems? I don't see anything...

When I searched my system for top text it seems that it only showed in temp internet files content. The program they list is not something I have ever downloaded or installed. So it seems you can pick it up anywhere

I wasjust finally able to acces the normal page about Toptext (I had to hit refresh 2x before I got there).

I have toptext on my system, I'll try and remove it as the inscrutions say. (It came with Kazaa?? )

Believe it or not, but the banner is normal now, toptext is off my system and everything is back to normal.

mouse, with me, it also just showed in the temporary internet files. Just remove it under "software" in your configurationscreen, then restart and everything is fine.
(I tried to do all the onther things that page said, but that wouldn't work)

Guess I should say hello.
Been busy here...

BWT, I get that 'toptext' thing too, but the banner shows up fine.

No TopText here... ZoneAlarm caught it, so I got rid of it...

Got it with KaZaa as well... or so I think at least... installed a whole bunch of progs, one after another... It came with one of them...

I don't have toptext on my pc...

Went shopping for some stuff for college (footwear mostly). Got a nice pair of trainers, and a great pair of proper steel-toecapped boots. These not only make me feel more confident (no idea why, but they do), but in case my toes ever have problems again, they won't get accidentally stamped on...

Well I didn't do anything but the message about Top Text is now gone, have a feeling something weird was going on.

So how is everyone (well anyone who is awake yet) doing today?

Olivia, I have been back in school for 8 weeks since the June holidays. It's going to be the September holidays in 2 weeks' time!!!

We did on an extract of the story about the Monkey's Paw (anyone read it?) for literature. Rather easy, I must say. And I agree with you. I didn't really study yet I managed to remember a good lot of detail.

So far, I don't like Baseball. My school's field is really in such a bad condition! Mud everywhere...

Good morning all.

I had an interesting time crossing the picket line set up outside our building today. Members of the public service who belong to the PSAC union are in a position to strike, so those of us who aren't on strike had to be escorted through the picket lines.

Made for an interesting start to the day.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Hope everyone stays calm and there are no incidents, Caylynn.

Well, today I don't get that message saying it is installed either... Must've been the detection on this site that went freaky or something

Best wishes to Cay. Labor disputes can be useful, but can also get interesting. BTW, why is your face blue if you are in love? Sort of a "so in love I forgot to breathe" thing?

Does anyone know where the term "boot" came from in relation to computers? It has always baffled me.

No Idea olivia, but booting a computer doesn't work well (especially with steel toecapped boots )

Erm, can I put up a new RR? It's just the UK doesn't have a special celebration day for a while, but last week and this week, students have been or will be receiving exam results. I'm picking up my GCSE results tomorrow...

Olivia,
booting a computer has to do with "pulling yourself up by the bootstraps" (as in getting your boots on). Now, why anyone would think of that for starting a computer is another matter

Darth, sure go ahead.

I've often felt the compulsion to kick my computer while wearing a heavy boot, but that's another matter.

How are you all?

I think 'booting' the PC comes from kicking the computer till it runs...
