With the upcoming festivities, I thought we should review the origins of our names. You know, why we picked what we wanted to be called.
I originally went with MarcusMaximus because my first name is Mark and I am literally larger than life. I missed the space between my names due to ignorance about how the forum engine would accept it. Several other forums and boards I go to require no spaces or special characters.
I also appear as Grumpus the Terrible whenever I am feeling tyranical. I picked Grumpus for two reasons, 1) to pay homage to Grumpus the Elder since his websites were extremely useful to this player when he was a novice, and 2) it aligned with the mood I want to convey whenever I act the tyrant.
I chose the suffix of Terrible since no good tyrant should ever be known as anything else. Remember that no good deed should ever go unpunished. Besides, it is the significant tyrants that get remembered over the course of history. You will be hard pressed to name 3 "good" famous people, but can easily rattle off 6-8 tyrants without thinking.
The only thing I hate about this forum now is that I can't switch between profiles as easily as I used to be able to. Hmmm, I wonder if I am being discriminated against? I guess tyrants really can't find love.
